RSW Auto Repair has worked on Ford since 2008. We hold a manufacturer level Ford computer license, which matters more on a modern Ford than on almost anything else, because so much of what goes wrong is a module or a calibration rather than a mechanical part.

• EcoBoost Timing Chain and Phasers

  The 3.5 and 2.7 EcoBoost engines are known for chain stretch and cam phaser rattle at higher mileages. A rattle on a cold start is the tell, and it is worth catching before it becomes a timing event.

• 10R80 and 6F35 Transmission

  Fluid and filter service at a real interval, plus shudder and harsh shift diagnosis. These transmissions respond well to correct fluid and badly to being left alone.

• Internal Water Pump

  Some Ford V6 engines run the water pump inside the timing cover, so a failure puts coolant into the oil with no external leak. Diagnosing it early is the difference between a pump and an engine.

• Module Programming and Calibration

  We hold a manufacturer level Ford license, so PCM, BCM and ABS module programming, as-built configuration and calibration updates are done here rather than referred to a dealership.

• Spark Plugs and Coils

  On the turbocharged engines plugs are a real maintenance item, not a lifetime part. Misfires under boost usually start here.

• Rear Axle and Driveshaft

  F-150 and Super Duty differential fluid, u-joints and axle seals. Differential fluid on a truck that tows is a much shorter interval than the book implies.

• Suspension and Alignment

  Ball joints, radius arm bushings and shocks on the trucks, with four wheel alignment on our own alignment rack in house.

• Brake Service

  Pads, rotors and calipers, including the electronic parking brake systems that need a scan tool to retract properly.

Ford intervals are workable, but the oil life monitor on the EcoBoost engines is optimistic for the way most people drive. Turbocharged engines that idle in traffic and do short trips want oil more often than the dash suggests.
