• DSG Dual-Clutch Transmission Service

  The 7-speed S-tronic DSG (DL501 in quattro models, DQ381 in newer applications) requires fluid and mechatronic unit service at 40,000–60,000 miles. This is one of the most overlooked maintenance items on Audi, and one of the most consequential when neglected.

• Timing Chain & Tensioner (EA888)

  The 2.0T EA888 engine used in A4, A5, and Q5 has a known timing chain tensioner wear issue at higher mileages. Symptoms include a rattle on cold start. Early diagnosis is critical, tensioner failure can cause serious engine damage.

• PCV & Crankcase Ventilation

  The positive crankcase ventilation system on 1.8T and 2.0T Audi engines is a frequent failure point, causing oil consumption, rough idle, and boost leaks. PCV membrane replacement is a common preventative service on higher-mileage EA888 engines.

• Quattro AWD Haldex Service

  Audi's Haldex center differential (used in transverse quattro models) requires fluid and filter service every 40,000 miles. Neglected Haldex units lose the ability to properly transfer torque to the rear wheels under acceleration.

• Carbon Cleaning (EA888)

  Direct-injection engines accumulate carbon deposits on intake valves over time. Walnut blasting, the preferred method, removes deposits without disassembly damage and should be performed every 60,000–80,000 miles on EA888-equipped Audis.

• Oil Consumption (1.8T / 2.0T)

  Early-generation 1.8T and 2.0T Audi engines (pre-EA888 Gen 3) are prone to excessive oil consumption due to piston ring and valve stem seal wear. We diagnose and repair the underlying cause rather than recommending topping off.

• HVAC Blend Door Actuators

  Blend door actuator failures are common across multiple Audi model lines, causing one-side temperature control issues or clicking/grinding from behind the dash. This is a labor-intensive repair that requires dashboard access on many models.

• MMI Infotainment Failures

  Multi Media Interface failures, blank screens, non-responsive controls, or missing navigation, often require control unit replacement or software updates performed with manufacturer-level diagnostic access.

Audi uses a flexible service interval system that adjusts oil change timing based on driving conditions, typically between 10,000 and 15,000 miles. While this interval is appropriate for light-duty driving, we recommend more conservative intervals for turbocharged S-tronic and RS models. Several additional items, DSG fluid, Haldex differential fluid and brake fluid, are not covered by the flexible system and need tracking separately.
